How do I save my spider plant??

He is dieing! Conditions:hanging in a well lit room with full spectrum light bulbs. Does not get any "real" sunlight. I water it some every day. The tips have turned brown and it looks to be getting worse. I am using distilled water too! I would say I prob. give it 4-6 oz. a day (very rough estimate). Any suggestions?

How do I save my spider plant??
Quit with the water! You're drowning it! Water thoroughly when it gets dry and not until!
Reply:Whoa!!! you are watering way too much!!! stick a finger in the pot first to check dryness. If dry one inch in...then it needs water so leave the poor thing alone for 3 or 4 days but check it daily until you get how to water it. The roots may be rotting by now so take it out of its pot and check the roots. This plant cannot tolerate so much fluid. Best to mist it with water daily so that it does not get spider mites from the dry air. Might also be rootbound. if so the roots will have woven around tightly inside the pot...so dense that it retains the shape of the container, if so then water cannot be absorbed and plant could be dying from not enough water.. Check this first too. If root bound then transplant with new soil into a somewhat larger pot. Use a knife to carefully slice off the bottom inch of the bounded roots; then break apart, not off, the roots before inserting into new pot. When transplanting any plant always do this for the roots otherwise it won't be able to spread out and grow and it dies.
Reply:You're probably watering it too much. Watering once a week should be sufficient. They can easily get rootbound too. If that's the case, you'll need to repot it.
Reply:sunlight is very essential for all plant try to give if possible..
Reply:only water when the dirt is dry, about 1 time a week, put it in the sink water till a lot of water runs out of the bottom of the pot,let it drain, then water again, let drain again, the tips are turning brown because the plant is cleaning the air in your house(that's what this plant does)so don't worry about it good luck ,your plant will love you for the good care
Reply:Make sure the water is not too cold. Also, wait until it is dry and then put it in your sink to water it. Water it very thoroughly. Once a week should do. Maybe even every 2 weeks.
Reply:You are over watering.. More plants die from overwatering than from under watering. Poor thing is drowning and it's roots may be beginning to rot. Hope you have good drainage from the pot. Never let any plant sit in water after you have watered it. Discard any water that drains into drip tray. For now try letting it dry out then place it in a sink or pan and let it take only amount of water it wants. Remove from the water and let it drain before putting it back where it belongs. If this doesn't help then remove plant from the pot and check the roots. If they are brown root rot has begun. You can a remedy at a good gaden center. Then repot in fresh soil. And watch the watering.
