Why are the tips of my spider plant turning brown?

gets a cup of water a week and half a day of sun

Why are the tips of my spider plant turning brown?
Usually they turn brown from getting too dry, one time will do it. From my experience spider plants like quite a bit of water, lots of light, and if it's outside it will burn if it gets the hot evening sun.
Reply:Any time you get brown spots on a plant you are doing one of two things. 1- you are watering a plant while the sun shines on it. The sun will hit the water spots on the plant and burn it off. 2- You are watering the plant too much. A spider plant really doesn't need watering but about twice a month. If you can stick your index finger down into the soil and feel any moisture at all, the plant does not need water. Hope this helps
Reply:You're not watering it enough. When you water your spider plant, water it until the water comes out of the drainage hole. Spider plants should be kept moist, not wet, moist, especially since it receives a lot of sun.
