I want to buy some plants for my classroom, maybe 3 or 4. They do not have to be huge. I do not want to spend very much money on them either. I have heard great things about these plants in the classroom- that they are easy to care for and work well in a school setting with kids. How much can I expect to spend on these, and where is the best place to get them? I heard that WalMart was actually a good place because they would be much less than a flower store.
I am looking for:
spider plant
wondering jew
philodendron
peace plant
corn plant
How much do these plants cost?
They are all really inexpensive and you can find them at Wal-Mart, Lowe's, or Home Depot. Except the corn plant that you would have to grow on your own from seed.
You're looking at about $10 each give or take a little.
Flower stores are hideously expensive. I wouldn't even look there. Someplace with a garden center is your best bet.
Reply:contact my avatar, I have several on your list and would be willing to mail you cuttings.
Reply:A couple of those are poisonous. Depending on the age of the kids, you might not want them in a classroom.
All of those are quite inexpensive. Check Lowe's and Home Depot. They often have good-sized specimens of corn plants and peace lilies on sale for less than 10 bucks.
