spray stuff you have to put in a sprayer? Thanks for any help.
I have spider mites in some plants (hanging baskets). Is there any other way to remedy them outside of the?
The best way to get rid of spider mites is to put about 5 drops of dish soap like dawn in a spray bottle and fill the bottle up with water and spray the plant down hitting every part of it including the top soil ... let the plant sit for an hour and then take it into the bath tub and give your plant a warmish cool shower to get rid of the soap ...I hope this help it has worked wonders on all of my plants that have ever had spider mites
Reply:~~ ahhh just went threw that my self a few months ago,,,,,,,I asked the same question,,,,,,, ok,, take a spray bottle of just water and liquid dish soap,,,,make it all soapy and spray all the leaves,,,under and over, for a few days,,,,,,,,that will get rid of any spidermites, knats,,,,any anoying bugs that are bugging your plants,,,,,,,,,it might take a week of spraying twice a day,,,,
Reply:Go the the nursery and get something called diatomaceous earth. It will look like talcum powder when you put in on your plant but you should only need the treatment for a week or so. This should kill the mites. You might also want to consider repotting but not until you have gotten rid of the mites. This is an organic treatment and has not failed me.
Reply:I read that you can immerse the whole plant in very warm water, but you run the risk of killing the plant.
I once carefully washed the leaves and stems of a sad looking impatients plant that I got from the clearance section of a Wal-mart, and over several months, I got rid of the pests, and the plant did really well for a year, until I went on a trip and my friend didn't go to water my plants like she said she would. I lost half my plants.
I used a little bit of dish soap with luke warm water and cotton swabs.
Reply:Using dish detergent is a great idea but for stubborn pests try neem oil. It is an all natural fungicide/miticide/insectcide. Yes it needs to be mixed and sprayed but you can get little hand sprayers cheap. Be careful because if one plant has them they can easily spread and everything you have will get them. They will kill your plant eventually.
