I really need help. The pest control company has sprayed twice and it is still really bad. where did they come from? I don't even have one house plant? I live in Massachusetts and have my entire life. I have never seen this happen to anyone. They are so bad they cover the toilet water and are all over the beds and bedding. Thanks
Spider mites are all over my house. help, I don't have any plants. I am really upset. Pest control sprayed.
Spider mites used to
be strictly an outside pest. They would infest
cotton, corn and other food crops causing
enough damage to ruin the harvest. Awareness
and treatments for this pest has enabled
farmers to control populations, but the
spider mites have remained persistent. They
are now common around the home choosing to
live on any plant or shrub they can find.
Juniper, arborvitae, succulents and pine
trees are common hosts, but just about any
vegetation will do. In recent years, spider
mites have found their way inside. The increase
of plants in the home and the practice of
keeping some plants outside for the summer
and inside for the winter have allowed the
spider mite to become an indoor pest. They
do not commonly migrate inside but in fact
are being carried in by the homeowners and
horticulturists.
Looks to me like somehow someone brought them in...aparently these are tough little suckers...gl
Reply:yes clean clean clean!!!! welcome to my problem.... Report It
Reply:Did they spray outside also?
Reply:wow, that does sound pretty bad. how old is your house? has this happend just lately?
Reply:Sometimes insects/arachnids arrive in swarms and you just have to hold out for them to leave or die off from starvation. Mites, however, tend to eat microscopic foods. How clean is your house? You might start cleaning instead of calling the exterminator. It takes more effort on your part, but it should be a LOT cheaper and less toxic.
Dust mites, to which I am allergic, are specific to house dust. They love it! So if your house is dusty, you may have lots and lots of mites having an orgy over your dust piles! Clean, clean, and - just in case - you might want to clean.
Reply:wow that really is a problem I would to try bug foggers like the ones you get for roaches. You are going to have to kill the adults so that they dont hatch out more little ones. I would also wash down everything i could with bleach water I know they are so small you feel like you are fighting an invisible foe, GOOD luck let me know if you find something that does work NORMA
