Small indoor potted plants that are safe?

I want to get some small indoor potted plants that are kitty friendly. I will keep them on shelfs, and our cat is pretty good about not climbing on the shelfs and counters.

I know nothing about plants so I would need something that is easy to take care and does not need constant light. I was thinking it would be nice to have a spider plant and also something that blooms.

(Picky enough for you?! JK) Any suggestions!

Thanks!!!

Here is a list from the Cat Fancier's Association of safe plants for cats:

They also have a list of toxic plants:

Reply:Honestly, no plant is really 'cat friendly' except for home-grown catnip, specialty cat fiber grass, or regular grass. But if you are keeping them on places where your cat should not (and normally doesn't) go then just continue to let him/her/them know that you don't want them at that spot, and you should be fine.

Reply:You should check to make sure the plant is pet friendly. Check the ASPCA website to be sure.
